Valerie Smith is a Thai Massage Practitioner who is excited to share the gifts of this ancient healing with others. In 2018 she left a successful 18 year career in the finance industry to study Osteopathy (a 4 year deep study of anatomy and physiology with the philosophy that the body can heal itself). To compliment this journey she has retrained and certified as a Thai Massage practitioner. Valerie first discovered the art of Thai Massage while on a healing journey of her own.
After being medically diagnosed with a digestive condition and given the prognosis of medication for life, she began to seek other options. After one consultation with a holistic nutritionist she decided to become a holistic nutritionist herself. During this time Valerie’s awareness of the emotional connection to her health began to grow, especially the impact of unexpressed emotions and how they can manifest in our bodies as physical ailments. It is through this interest that Valerie discovered the ancient healing art of Thai Massage and fell in love. While the receiving of a Thai massage is incredible, it is the giving of the massage where she felt soulfully aligned; a practice of her own expression. One of the principles of Thai Massage is the intent of the touch that is applied. The intent is known as “Metta” loving kindness and considered “compassion in action”. Through the training of thai massage Valerie became aware of her abilities to sense with her hands and to feel the energy of others.
Valerie completed her Thai Massage training with Thai Massage Toronto, Toronto’s premier Thai Massage School. She is also a holistic nutritionist having graduated with honours from the Institute of Holistic Nutrition in 2012. She is currently studying with the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy in the Master of Practice Diploma in Osteopathic Manual Sciences (M.OMSc) program. When not with her kids, studying, or working, Valerie is immersed in self-development work: she completed the Curriculum for Living with Landmark World Wide, participated as a coach in Landmark’s Self Expression and Leadership Program, and is currently enrolled in Bob Proctor’s Thinking Into Results program.
